FIMRC PROJECT ALAJUELITA, COSTA RICA

I volunteered March 2nd - 10th at FIMRC Project Alajuelita, Costa Rica. FIMRC is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of families in the developing world. FIMRC Project Alajuelita includes an outpatient clinic with a pharmacy and psychologist. They also partner with the local school and soup kitchen. Furthermore, they have two temporary clinics. One of the temporary clinics is located in El Jazmin, and the other is located at the soup kitchen.

My Volunteer Tasks Included:
• Assisted doctors in performing wellness checks
• Checked blood pressure, height, and weight
• Calculated BMI
• Calculated dosages and prepare medications in the pharmacy
• Assisted the local soup kitchen with medical campaigns and health education programs
• Completed new patient files and updated information for existing patients
